Well, it's been over six months since I've posted anything here. Seems like I've vanished or something (which is partially true) but really, I haven't. I'm just laying low, watching you guys create art and wishing I could do the same. I just have no inspiration...no clever ideas (not that I had any in the first place but at least I used to think that I had) so I'm left with my crappy homework and recently discovered obsession with cooking.
Cooking? YES! Absolutely crazy, I know, since I've loathed cooking and standing near to the stove since I was BORN! But something changed exactly a year ago- I stopped eating meat, and I guess I felt that my menu was far too vacant. Like any typical meat-eater, I thought that the only thing that vegetarians eat is SALAD. And oh boy was I wrong. The reality hit me some months ago when I discovered so many new foods that I've never even tried.
Now, if you knew me in real life, you'd know that I was every mother's, father's and grandmother's nightmare: hated dairy products- cheese, milk etc; hated beans, cooked vegetables, desserts, cakes, jam, oatmeal, and any other stuff that people normally eat. My passion was instant ramen and sandwiches + chocolate. Yep. How nutritious!
Typical joke/question was "are you on a diet"....would've been funny if they weren't asking the same thing since I was 5 years old ( at every kid's birthday ,after I had refused their slice of cake ).
Anyway, at this moment I'm drooling all over my keyboard, clicking through pages and pages of Vegan Dad's cooking blog (www.vegandad.blogspot.com <---BEST PLACE IN THE UNIVERSE!!), plotting to make some salsa tomorrow.....yum!
And I keep spending all my money on food supplies and can't even pass the spices section of the local supermarket without buying something. The saddest thing for me is that no store in this darn country sells neither seitan, tempeh nor vital wheat gluten. What a shame, so many recipes have to wait for their time.
*****I have bought a canvas and hopefully I can come up with something before the end of this year. If not, prepare for loads of crappy x-mas cards with elves, gingerbread men and reindeer *****
Hope you guys are more creative than I've been, if you aren't - consider cooking yourself a good meal- and remember- stay away from those fast food places- they're EVIL!
